Remember when long hours at the office were seen as a badge of power?  Leaving your desk whilst there was still daylight outside was for wimps and breakfast meetings at 6am were common place?

Today, there is a trend to a more balanced approach, with employers beginning to see the advantage of giving their employees more control over how they carry out their work.  Google encourages all employees take a break every hour to practice mindfulness.  Frugi, the organic clothing company, have yoga sessions and walking groups during the working day; and Telecoms company Amelix encourages all employees to do 10 days voluntary work per year for which they will be paid.

The results are seen in a more committed, productive and engaged workforce who lose less days through stress or ill health. 

So ditch those office chains and encourage your workforce to be healthier in body and mind – you will reap the benefits.
